TOLEDO, OH – Saint Ursula Academy’s Preview Day is held each November and gives potential students and their families the opportunity to observe student life at SUA.

Preview Day has been a tradition for many decades among the Catholic high schools of Toledo, but SUA strives to continue making the day unique and improving the day each year.

The most recent changes have been the addition of the information panel and allowing families to pre-select what academic departments they are interested in learning about on their tour.

“We changed it to where families could select what they wanted to see, that has been well received,” said Rita Hayes, the director of the Ambassador program.

By selecting which subjects and extracurricular activities the student is interested in, it helps the tour to run smoothly and be even more personalized to each student.

The tour begins in the Angela Lobby where families can visit the Chapel to learn more about faith life at SUA. They can learn about theology classes, school Masses, retreats and all of the other ways faith is incorporated into SUA.

The rest of the tour, as stated, is based on what the families selected prior to the tour. The families walk through the halls and step into the classrooms of the subjects they selected as an interest. After hearing about the academics at SUA, the tour shifts gears and allows students to learn about SUA’s offered extracurriculars.

They visit the field house where each sport has its own table dedicated to it where both athletes and coaches are stationed. If sports are not of interest to the student, SUA offers performing arts options such as the musical, or band through Saint Francis De Sales High School or Saint John’s Jesuit High School.

The tour is concluded in the dining commons where students and their parents are offered both a donut and apple cider provided by SUA’s Merici society.

These tours are conducted by student ambassadors to help families see a student perspective of the school. This detail is something many families have given positive feedback about and something the Ambassadors have noticed to be a high point of this event.

“Parents and students are being led on tours by high school students which gives them the perspective of a high school student which is important for their kid…” said Brooklyn Bellafronte, a senior Ambassador at SUA.

SUA’s attention to details like these have led to very positive feedback of this event each year, this one being no different.

Throughout the day many families expressed their praise in the event and gave many compliments to both faculty and students on the work they did.

SUA’s prolific work done for Preview Day has always led to positive results and they are excited to see how the student body increases next school year as a result.
