TOLEDO, OH -  Saint Ursula Academy is known for its success in athletics over the years. SUA has 13 varsity sports for high school student-athletes to participate in.

In particular, the SUA Dance Team continues to maintain its longevity as it upholds its dominant reputation.

Since 2014 the Dance Team has won 26 state championships in pom and jazz, and a national championship in small varsity pom in 2020. The team also placed in the silver category in large varsity jazz and large varsity pom at the 2025 Universal Dance Association (UDA) National Championship.

Responsible for the SUA Dance Team's continued success is Coach Morgan Losby, who has been leading the team for eleven years.

“I love the school, the atmosphere, and I really like coaching this team because it has always been a legacy program and they are super competitive,” said Losby.

From the 2023 season to the 2025 season, the team has jumped from 11 to 22 participants. When asked about the difference between the smaller and larger teams, Lobsy said, "...definitely lots of energy, lots more people… I love having the bigger teams because it’s fun."

To continue their consistent patterns of success each season, they spend hours upon hours in the studio, working to clean the dances and get better.

“We are together five days a week in the season,” said Losby. They practice most week nights and occasionally on weekends as well. The team is dedicated to maintaining their status, but also having fun.

For Senior Lia Pappas, the highlight of being on the SUA Dance Team is “bonding with my team and working hard towards my goals.”

The team is looking forward to participating in the Ohio High School Athletic Association state competition in January as well as the UDA National championships in February of 2026.
