TOLEDO, OH - Clubs are a key part of many students’ lives outside of the classroom. SUA will be offering 21 clubs this year with three being new: Crochet Club, Broomball Club, and Podcast Club.
When asked about the importance of club options for students, Coordinator of Student Life and Wellness Initiatives, Rachael Decker, said SUA finds it important that students are able to express themselves and have extracurricular activities added to their lives.

Ski Club is a popular club that SUA offers. Ski Club Advisor Kevin Richard said the club has been running since before he started teaching at SUA, and he is going on his fourth year as the advisor.
“It has actually been a club before I started leading it,” Mr. Richard said when being asked about how long the Ski Club has been given in SUA club options.
Mr. Richard said there will be four ski trips this year, which will be Brighton, Pine Knob, Mount Holly, and Pine Valley. The first trip will be January 10, 2026. The club lets students go to new places and is offered to all high schoolers. Beginner skiers are “absolutely encouraged” to join the club.
Another continuing club that interests students is Writing Club, directed by Holly Lindsay, an English and Performing Arts teacher at SUA.
“I try to make the environment really welcoming and very creative-friendly,” Mrs. Lindsay said when asked what things will be like when aspiring writers walk through the door.
She also said that not all the writing in Writing Club is creative writing. Instead, students are allowed to write in any style they want.
Writing Club’s first meeting for the 2025-2026 school year will be today, September 22. Meetings will be held in the Angela Lobby after school from 3:05 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Mrs. Lindsay expressed that meeting at least once a month will be the goal.
Though kickoff already happened, it is not too late to sign up. If interested, contact Mrs. Decker or the advisor of the club they want to join via email.
